Old Programs Won’t Run

Many of the problems faced by VISTA users is common to the topic of this article. Please help, my old programs don’t run on VISTA. Without talking too much let me give you a few tips that might help.
Steps to follow:
- Right Click on the program you want to run, Select Properties, Then select Run at the Tab menu
- Select “Windows XP Professional”
- Click OK.
- Now try running the program and see if it works.
Install program as Windows XP. Before you run your installation, do the exact steps as described above, install the program. The program would be installed in VISTA to run as Windows XP Professional or what-ever option you have chosen.
- Most old programs that ran on 16bit won’t run on VISTA. VISTA’s basic edition such as the VISTA HOME Premiuem edition is 32bits. Also compatibiliy doesn’t go beyond Windows 98. So running Old programs say those on Disk Operating System (DOS; which by the way was one of the revolution in OS history) won’t run.
When buying new software, look for the logo “VISTA”, when buying old programs make sure at least it runs above Windows 98.
