Help my .wav file won’t play
- Posted by linda175 on June 15th, 2008 filed in Ask and Help
I have windows home pre. Had no problem listening to .wav files. For video editing and encoding I downloaded some codecs, installed some and now my vista won’t play. Gspot says a PCM audio codec is missing for all my .wav files, now I can’t listen to them.
Windows media player opens the file but no sound. Went to microsoft.com for some help and no vail. Please help me how to get the pcmwaveformat codec, I am losing so any of my sounds that I had recorded using my microphone and I need to use those audio (.wav) files for my school project . Please help. Same is happening with a camcorder that records video in xvid and .wav PCM format. I can somehow view the video but no sound. Have I delayed any file or is there a file that I can download.
Your help would be much appreciated. Please help me!

click web help from media player. Does that help?
A friend or mine told me that PCMwavformat isn’t good for vista.
if u can, camcorder recording in MPEG or h.264 with AAC audio codec or something like that. Also try some shareware that convert .wav to mp3, just look for vista compatible ones. They sure would install some audio code and your problem should be solved. Try audacity and c if it works.
